A Muslim family in Gurgaon’s Dhamaspur village was attacked on March 21, the evening of Holi, by a group of men.The incident began when members of the family, who were playing cricket nearby, were told to go play in Pakistan by a group of men. There was an argument and then the men disappeared.Not too long after, a larger group of men, allegedly from the Gujjar community, rode in on motorcycles. Armed with sticks, they broke the windows upon finding the main door locked, entered the house and proceeded to smash things and thrash members of the family.Also read: Gurgaon: Muslim Family Assaulted in Their Home; Told to ‘Go to Pakistan’On the terrace, in a part of the assault that a 21-year-old woman managed to record on her phone, the intruders can be seen beating the male members of the family mercilessly.By the time the men left, several in the family had suffered fractured limbs, open head wounds and scarred memories. The Wire visited the village to get a glimpse of what may have fuelled the shocking attack.
