Twitter Milks BJP Leader Dilip Ghosh's Golden Comment on Indian Cows

Ghosh claimed that the milk produced by the ‘desi’ cows has a yellow tinge to it because it contains gold. "Foreign breeds are not our 'gau mata'... they are aunties," he said.

New Delhi: BJP’s West Bengal unit chief Dilip Ghosh has got caught in a social media hailstorm over his remarks a public function in the state’s Burdwan town on November 4. Ghosh – known for his inflammatory statements made in in public, such as asking party workers to beat up policemenreportedly made a comment on how milk produced by Indian cows contains gold.

Ghosh claimed that unlike foreign breeds of cows, the milk produced by the ‘desi’ cows has a yellow tinge to it because of its ‘gold’ content.

“Desi cows have a hump on their back. Foreign breeds do not have humps and their backs are plain like that of a buffalo. The hump has ‘Swarna Nari’. When sunlight falls on the hump, it produces gold. That is why the milk of desi cow is yellowish or lightly golden. It contains gold. If one drinks only desi cow milk, it is enough for sustenance. There are many religious men who live by drinking cow milk and water from the Ganges,” Ghosh reportedly said in the meeting.

“The breeds of cows that we bring from abroad are not cows. They are beasts. They are not our gau mata, but our aunties. It is not good for the country if we worship such aunties,” he added.

In the same speech, Ghosh also asked ‘intellectuals’ who eat beef to eat dog meat too. “There are educated people who eat beef on the road side. Why only cow? They can have dog meat too. Eat other animals too. Their health will be fine whichever animal they eat. But please eat at your home. The cow is our mother and we view cow killing as anti-social,” he said.

As one would expect, the comment unleashed wave upon wave of jokes on social media.

Some even rose to defend Ghosh and back up his claims:

Ghosh, at the same event, also warned the state’s police against arresting his party men, stating, “Thousands of our workers are been given false cases and thrown in jail by police. I tell them, we are keeping a watch and noting names. After we come to our power action will be taken. Even if they retire we will take money out of their pension as payment for the harassment our workers suffered.”
