Watch | UNHRC Action Unprecedented, India’s Image Abroad At It’s Worst: Tharoor

'Our standing has never been lower,' the Thiruvananthapuram MP tells The Wire's Mitali Mukherjee.

UN High Commissioner for Human Rights Michelle Bachelet is moving to file an intervention application in the Supreme Court against the Citizenship Amendment Act (CAA).

In response, the Indian government has claimed that no foreign party has “locus standi” on CAA as it pertains to Indian sovereignty.

In this edition of The Wire Business Report, Mitali Mukherjee speaks to Thiruvananthapuram MP Dr. Shashi Tharoor on the opposition’s response to the OHCHR’s intervention to the Citizenship Amendment Act.

“We have thousands of years of recorded history of giving refuge to thousands of people here without once enquiring about their religion…that’s the way it should be,” said Tharoor.
