New Delhi: The West Asia crisis triggered by the US and Israel’s attack on Iran entered day 90 on Thursday (May 28). Amid a shaky, temporary ceasefire, the US on Wednesday (May 27) carried out fresh strikes against Iran with the its military striking an Iranian ground control station in Bandar Abbas port. The US went ahead with the fresh strikes even after president Donald Trump had said at a cabinet meeting earlier on Wednesday that his administration was making headway on settling the war.Trump also maintained that the midterm elections in the United States scheduled for November this year won’t make him rush into a deal to end the conflict.“They thought they were gonna outwait me. You know, ‘We’ll outwait him. He’s got the midterms’. I don’t care about the midterms. They want very much to make a deal. So far, they haven’t gotten there. We’re not satisfied with it, but we will be – either that or we’ll have to just finish the job,” Trump said on Wednesday.Meanwhile, Trump also threatened to use military force against Oman in case it collaborates with Iran to assert control over the Strait of Hormuz. When he was asked by a reporter at the cabinet meeting on Wednesday about his take on the idea of Oman and Iran overseeing trade in the Strait of Hormuz, the US president said, “Nobody is going to control it. It’s international waters, and Oman will behave just like everybody else, or we will have to blow them up.”Follow updates of the war in the blog below.
