New Delhi: A joint statement released by Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and Defence Minister Israel Katz on Friday (May 15) said that Israel had carried out a strike against “one of the architects” of the October 7 attacks in Israel. The two air strikes on a residential building and a civilian vehicle in Gaza City resulted in the death of at least seven Palestinians and injured several others. The Israeli attack, targeting Izz al-Din al-Haddad, the head of the armed wing of Hamas, comes on the 78th anniversary of the Nakba (Arabic for “catastrophe”), referring to the systematic expulsion and dispossession of about 750,000 Palestinians during the 1948 war, when Zionist paramilitary groups captured villages and towns.Meanwhile, the US State Department reported the conclusion of talks between Israel and Lebanon, announcing a 45-day “ceasefire” extension, with subsequent US-mediated talks scheduled for later this month.Israel has continued to relentlessly attack multiple areas in Lebanon despite the supposed “ceasefire,” killing at least 11 people on Friday (May 15) alone. According to Al Jazeera, an Israeli strike on an ambulance centre killed six people, while injuring 22 others, completely destroying the facility operated by the health authority.Hezbollah, in turn, says it carried out coordinated attacks on Israeli soldiers across south Lebanon.Follow the blog below for live updates.
