New Delhi: A day after the White House announced that special envoy Steve Witkoff and Donald Trump’s adviser and son-in-law Jared Kushner would travel to Islamabad for negotiations with Iran – but with Tehran maintaining it would not hold direct talks with the US – the president on Saturday (April 25) cancelled his two representatives’ visit.“I just cancelled the trip of my representatives going is Islamabad, Pakistan, to meet with the Iranians. Too much time wasted on traveling, too much work!,” Trump said on Truth Social.Meanwhile Iranian foreign minister Abbas Araghchi, who travelled to Pakistan for what he described as indirect talks with US envoys, left the country on Saturday evening, the Associated Press reports citing official Pakistani sources.Earlier, Iranian foreign ministry spokesperson Esmaeil Baqaei had said that there would be no direct negotiations with the US government representatives during Araghchi’s visit.The war triggered by the US and Israel’s attack on Iran entered day 57.Follow live updates here.
