Leaders at the Group of Seven (G7) summit on Wednesday (June 17) voiced their support for US President Donald Trump’s tentative agreement with Iran to open the Strait of Hormuz and further extend the ceasefire, even though he hasn’t shared details of the memorandum of understanding (MoU) between the US and Iran.At the G7 meeting today, Trump asserted that the MoU wasn’t final yet and he would resume bombing if he “didn’t like it”.Meanwhile, as Israeli forces killed four people in Southern Lebanon, Trump said Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu has to be “more responsible”, underlining that it was unnecessary to bomb entire apartment buildings to hunt militants. Iran has accused Israel of violating the truce in Lebanon 84 times since the MoU was agreed to between Tehran and the US and warned of a “harsh response” if attacks continue. On Tuesday (June 16), Iran mentioned that talks with the US on its nuclear programme and sanctions relief would likely begin later this week. The negotiations over a final deal would take place in a 60-day window after the MoU to end nearly four months of war triggered by US-Israeli strikes on Iran is physically signed, officials said.
