Watch | Meet Bindu, the Woman Who Prayed Inside Sabarimala Temple

After Bindu and her friend, Kanakadurga, visited the temple on January 2, Kerala witnessed a spate of violence.

After resisting the Supreme Court’s verdict for months, the Sabarimala Temple Board finally changed its stance and said it agreed the devotees cannot be discriminated against on the grounds of “biological attributes”.

This comes after the Supreme Court heard a batch of review petitions for and against its September 28 verdict. After Bindu and her friend, Kanakadurga, visited the temple on January 2, 2019, Kerala saw a spate of violence from people who claimed to be devotees of Lord Ayyappa. The shrine was also ‘purified’ by priests after the two women prayed there.
