New Delhi: Usually, on International Women’s Day, we highlight stories of women that society considers successful. We typically talk of women film stars, activists, politicians, sportspersons, CEOs and other achievers. On this Women’s Day, I am amidst several women whose lives have been devastated by the recent Delhi riots. There are those who lived at home looking after their families, and those who ran shops or educational institutes. The rioters have brought down to ashes their modest means of livelihood. And yet, they haven’t lost hope, swallowing the pain of loss and picking up the strands of their life to move ahead.
