On September 2, Prime Minister Narendra Modi commissioned the country’s first-ever indigenous aircraft carrier, the INS Vikrant. With this, India joined a select group of nations which have the capacity to develop an indigenous aircraft carrier.However, the carrier will only be fully operational by the end of 2023, which is why some experts are calling it ‘seaworthy’, but not ‘battleworthy’.The Wire discusses with defence analyst Rahul Bedi some questions regarding the “indigenous” nature of INS Vikrant.
