In this episode of ‘Krishi Ki Baat’, Indra Shekhar Singh discusses the implication of the Ukraine-Russia crisis on food prices. Ukraine and Russia together are major exporters of cereals, with the former alone exporting over 60 million tons of grain crops each year. Russia (10%) and Ukraine (20%) combine for nearly a third of the world’s wheat production also. Economic sanctions, trade restrictions and military action will disrupt the agri sectors in these countries and impact food prices all over the world. He also discusses the impact on sunflower oil imports along with fertiliser imports.
