In this episode of MKV 360 Degrees, The Wire’s founding editor M.K. Venu discusses the Indian economy in the last 12 years under the Narendra Modi-led National Democratic Alliance (NDA) government with renowned Economics professor Arun Kumar.Kumar said that big-policy-induced mistakes in economic management have created sub par growth, stagnant incomes, low private investment and increased inequality.Further, he underlined that “states are in trouble” and “there are diversities in states” for which different policies should be brought but “there’s this idea of one nation, one election, one language” that’s not good for the country. “The social sector is languishing,” Kumar pointed out, adding that education and health sectors have worsened in the last 12 years and poor education has impacted R&D as well.
