Watch: Meet Tanaz Mohammad, a Trainer Who's Encouraging More Indian Women to Join Sports

"I only tried to break the barrier some girls had around them."

“I never thought I will be in a position where I will actually inspire others,” says Tanaz Mohammad, a sports trainer in Mumbai. Tanaz recalls the time when she was asked to do a summer camp, and all the children who showed up at the camp were only boys. “There were around 1,000 to 1,200 boys,” she says.

“I told the parents of the boys that if they also have a daughter then they should send them to the camp. I told them, I’ll be there with the girls. The next day 800 girls were in the ground. I only tried to break the barrier some girls had around them,” she adds.

In this short video, Tanaz also describes how her journey towards sports began and how a management graduate ended up becoming a football trainer.
