New Delhi: US secretary of state Marco Rubio said that Pakistan has offered its troops to the International Stabilisation Force (ISF) for Gaza. The International Stabilisation Force (ISF) is the United Nations-mandated multinational peacekeeping force outlined in the peace plan agreed upon by Hamas and Israel in October 2025. The peace plan comes after two years of relentless strikes by Israel, on Gaza, pushing the area into famine and killing upwards of 70,000 people, mostly civilians. The Dawn newspaper in Pakistan has reported quoting diplomatic sources that Pakistan was considering deploying 3,500 troops as part of the ISF.Rubio was asked by a report if the US has received Pakistan’s nod on sending Pakistani troops for peace-building in Gaza.“In fairness to all the countries we’ve talked to about having a process on the ground, they want to know what the specific mandate is, what the funding process is like, so we are very grateful to Pakistan for their offer to be a part of it, or at least their offer to consider being a part of it,” Rubio reported.Rubio added that more clarity will be needed before countries could be asked to send in troops. “I think we owe them a few more answers before we can ask anybody to firmly commit,” he said.“I feel very confident that we have a number of nation-states acceptable to all sides of this who are willing to step forward and be a part of that stabilisation force and certainly, Pakistan is key, if they agree to do so,” he added. The secretary of state said that the next step would be announcing the “Board of Peace and the Palestinian technocratic group” that will help provide daily governance. “Once that‘s in place, I think that will allow us to firm up the stabilisation force, including how it’s going to be paid for, what their rules of engagement are, what their role will be in demilitarisation and so forth,” he said.A day ago Pakistan’s Foreign Office spokesman, Tahir Andrabi, said Islamabad had not yet decided on contributing troops tothe ISF.
