New Delhi: A mob on Thursday night, September 28, tried to attack the ancestral house of Manipur chief minister N. Biren Singh, in Luwangsangbam, within the Heingang assembly constituency of Imphal East, police said.However, the police said that it was an empty house and the chief minister does not live there. While one of the photos showed their dead bodies in gory detail, the other showed them sitting in fear, and in the background are armed men with their guns clearly visible, The Wire reported.The Manipur Chief Minister’s Office confirmed that the bodies belong to a young female student, Luwangbi Linthoingambi Hijam (17), and a young male student named Phijam Hemanjit Singh (20).The Chief Minister’s Office assured action against those involved in their kidnapping and killing, saying that the matter is already being probed into by the Central Bureau of Investigation in collaboration with the state agencies.Meanwhile, Manipur Police has appealed to the students to cooperate with law enforcement agencies in maintaining peace in the state. “Any miscreants taking advantage of the current situation will be firmly dealt by police.
