Ludhiana: A blast took place inside the Ludhiana district court complex, located near the police commissioner’s office, on Thursday, December 23.According to the news agency PTI and the outlet, Hindustan Times, two people died and five others were injured in the blast. Indian Express has reported that one person has died and four others were injured.“The blast took place in the wash room of the second floor of the court complex,” said police.The district court was functioning at the time. Police have cordoned off the area and rescue operations are going on.Punjab Chief Minister Charanjit Singh Channi said he will visit Ludhiana to take stock of the situation.“A blast took place in Ludhiana. I am going straight to Ludhiana,” Channi told reporters in Chandigarh.“Some anti-national and anti-state forces are trying to commit such disgusting acts and for this the government is alert and the people should also be alert,” he said, adding the culprits will not be spared.Former Chief Minister Captain Amarinder Singh also took to Twitter on this.Disturbing news of a blast at Ludhiana court complex. One person died, two persons were injured in the incident. Bomb disposal team and forensics team have been called from Chandigarh for investigation,”This event comes days after incidents in which two men were lynched over alleged sacrilege attempts in Amritsar and Kapurthala.(With inputs from PTI)
