On January 12, labour rights’ activist Nodeep Kaur was arrested by Haryana Police from Sonipat on charges of attempt to murder, rioting, and assault to deter a public servant from discharge of his duty under the Indian Penal Code, among others.Once in jail, she faced police torture. She was later granted bail by Punjab and Haryana high court. After walking out of jail, the 24-year-old activist vowed to continue her fight for the rights of workers. The Wire‘s Arfa Khanum Sherwani has spoken to Kaur on various issues, especially her time in jail and what she thinks of the future of protests in India.
