New Delhi: Delhi’s draft electoral roll was published on Monday (August 31) and 47.7 lakh electors out of the city’s 1.45 crore voters – 33% or one-third of the Union territory’s electorate – have been excluded as part of the special intensive revision (SIR) of electoral rolls.Forms of around 67.18% of Delhi’s 1,45,10,299 electors were digitised during the process. Meanwhile, the remaining 47.7 voters excluded from the list were marked as “uncollectable”. They were marked as permanently shifted, absent, deceased, duplicate, or they were placed under the “other” category, which has no clear definition.Source: Press note by Chief Electoral Officer, Delhi, August 31, 2026.Those excluded will be able to file their claims till September 30 through Form 6 and supporting documents. The final roll is due November 4, Delhi chief electoral officer said.According to the press note, booth-wise lists of ‘Absent/Shifted/Death/Duplicate’ electors, whose names are not on the draft roll, have been displayed on the notice board of respective Electoral Registration Officer (ERO)/Assistant ERO offices, polling stations, as well as on the Delhi CEO’s website and the respective District Electoral Officer’s website to enable the public to have access to the lists along with the probable reasons for their non-inclusion.Delhi is among the 19 states and Union territories where the SIR is being carried out in the third phase. It was conducted through a house-to-house exercise, which began on June 30 and ended on August 17.The extent of digitisation varied considerably across the city’s 70 Assembly constituencies. According to a PTI report, Rohini recorded the highest rate of digitisation at 83.4%, whereas Tughlakabad had the lowest at 52.1%.Per the Election Commission’s latest schedule, claims and objections will be examined, and the notice and disposal process will be on till October 29.
