New Delhi: As the draft electoral rolls were published in Arunachal Pradesh and Union Territory of Chandigarh as a part of the ongoing Special Intensive Revision (SIR) exercise on Tuesday (July 21), the deletion rate stood at 19% and 12.81%, respectively.Of the 8.87 lakh electors on Arunachal Pradesh’s earlier list prior to the SIR process, 1.69 lakh names were not included in the new draft. According to officials, most of these deletions were due to voters having permanently relocated while others were untraceable and some names were deleted due to deaths.In Chandigarh, out of 5,16,427 electors previously on the rolls, 66,147 were left off the draft, pushing the overall deletion rate to 12.81%; 8.47% of those deleted were voters who had shifted residence on a permanent basis, 2.43% were absent voters, 0.68% names were of deceased individuals, 0.50% were flagged as duplicate entries, and the remaining 0.72% fell into a miscellaneous, unaccounted-for category.As per the Election Commission, voters who want to contest their exclusion, or seek to have their name added back, can file claims and objections until August 20.Moreover, eligible residents who have turned or will turn 18 years of age on or before July 1, 2026, can also apply for enrolment using Form-6.For electors seeking corrections in entries, change of address or replacement of their elector photo identity card (EPIC), Form-8 has to be submitted either online via the ECINET mobile app or the ECINET portal, or offline through their respective booth level officers (BLOs).
