New Delhi: A police case has been registered against a school principal and two teachers in Maharashtra’s Jalna district after videos from its annual function in March 2025 began circulating on social media recently, with allegations that students performed to a Pakistani song at the event.Partur police on Thursday registered a case against Kids World English School principal Wazhiyoddin Siddiqui and two staff members. The charges, filed under the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS), include acts endangering India’s sovereignty, unity and integrity, promoting enmity between groups, spreading misinformation affecting national integration, and circulating content likely to cause public alarm, PTI reported. The online posts not only claimed the music played was Pakistani but also alleged that a photograph of Pakistani extremist Mumtaz Qadri was put up during the performance. Meanwhile, local Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) MLA Babanrao Lonikar has demanded action against the school management and called for its recognition to be cancelled.Siddiqui, however, refuted the claim. He suggested that the music played during the programme was not a Pakistani song but was taken from the popular Turkish television series Ertugrul Ghazi. “The image shown during the performance was of an actor from Ertugrul Ghazi. Some persons tampered with the visuals and circulated misleading content on social media,” he told reporters.Local police said the case is under investigation and that facts related to the performance, including the music used and images displayed are being verified.
