New Delhi: A woman who had earlier accused the son of a Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) leader in Madhya Pradesh’s Shivpuri of rape, is presently in a critical state after consuming sleeping pills and rat poison.According to the police, the woman, who had registered an FIR in April 30 against Rajat Sharma, son of BJP leader and Shivpuri Municipal Council president Gayatri Sharma was rushed to the medical college hospital after her condition deteriorated rapidly. She is presently undergoing treatment under medical supervision, reported NDTV.The woman also wrote a six-page note before consuming poison, in which she has said that she has been subjected to mental harassment and intimidation for the past seven months.“I am writing this suicide note in full consciousness. The reason for my death is Shivpuri Municipal Council president Gayatri Sharma and her husband Sanjay Sharma. They already knew about my relationship with their son Rajat Sharma. Gayatri Sharma had earlier told me she had no objection and would discuss marriage,” reads the note. The woman has alleged that while Rajat Sharma promised to marry her, his family simultaneously planned his engagement elsewhere, with the date of the engagement being fixed for April 14, 2025.The woman has also said that she was threatened by his mother and BJP leader Gayatri Sharma who told her that she should learn sacrifice and dedication.“Her son was present when she abused me,” the note states, reported NDTV.The woman alleged that when she went to the police station on April 14 (the same day when Rajat Sharma’s engagement was happening), her complaint was not registered that day, despite the fact that she waited for five hours. She alleged that political pressure was put on her to withdraw the complaint. In her note, the woman has also alleged that after the details of the case came into the public domain, she was threatened and pressured to compromise though politicians, retired officials, and police personnel and was also offered Rs 50 lakh. The woman has said that she had been repeatedly insulted, threatened, and humiliated over the last seven months, which left her mentally broken. She appealed for justice from prime minister Narendra Modi, chief minister Mohan Yadav and Union minister Jyotiraditya Scindia.Speaking to NDTV, Shivpuri superintendent of police Aman Singh Rathore said an FIR was registered in April under Section 69 of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) based on the woman’s complaint and that a chargesheet has been filed.“The case is pending before the court.
