New Delhi: A 15-year-old girl, who faced immense public scrutiny last month for purportedly using expletives about Prime Minister Narendra Modi during the youth protests at Jantar Mantar, has in another video alleged that the prime minister has “turned my life into hell”.The video has been widely shared on social media this week. The girl has alleged that Prime Minister Modi had had her “tortured” to the extent that she had “lost everything”, including her freedom.While it was not clear when or where the video was recorded, the girl’s lawyer confirmed to The Wire that it was not generated using artificial intelligence.“Modiji, you have turned my life into hell. I am unable to leave my home and have had to hide my face wherever I go,” she is heard saying in the video.The video was also shared by the Congress on X, stating that the prime minister should be “ashamed” for getting a 15-year-old “trolled by BJP goons”, and for intimidating, threatening, and ‘forcing’ her to apologise.The Wire has previously reported how the girl alleged she was facing regular rape and death threats, but neither the local nor the Delhi police appear to have initiated a probe against those doxxing and harassing her.In fact, a zero FIR was lodged against the minor girl from Noida. She had also made a video apologising for her remarks, saying she had made them ‘under the influence’ of others at the protest, that she was merely 15 years old and that this would be her “first and last mistake”. This was after some media reports claimed that she was 25 years old.A complaint was reportedly lodged by ‘Akhand Bharat Hindu Sena’ legal head Smriti Singh Chandel, and the police invoked BNS sections pertaining to insults meant to provoke a breach of the peace, statements conducive to public mischief and defamation against the minor.Meanwhile, Modi in his first remarks over the protests through an Instagram video had said that he “forgives” those “misled” youth – especially female protesters – who used expletives during the protests, including against himself and his late mother.Cockroach Janta Party had, meanwhile, rallied against the minor’s vilification online and on television. In a post on X, CJP spokesperson Saurav Das had said, “The misuse of criminal machinery against [name redacted as she is a minor] is unacceptable. Profanity does not attract a criminal case. The police can focus their energy elsewhere, not on a 25-year-old.”In a video statement, CJP founder Abhijeet Dipke had also said, “Law should be the same for everyone. It cannot be used against the youth of the country and not against political leaders for using abusive language.”
