Jawaharlal Nehru University students had organised a “Samata Rally” on February 22, demanding the resignation of VC Santishree D. Pandit. Thousands of students participated in the rally.However, the participating students were attached after the rally ended. Speaking to The Wire, JNUSU President Aditi Mishra alleged, “After the rally, people linked to ABVP threw stones and bricks [at us]. Several students were attacked.”On visiting the protest site, The Wire’s reporters saw stones and bricks lying around. The tent where the protest had been taking place was empty, with stones lying on top of the tent.For the past few days, protests have been been taking place at the JNU campus against the VC and the university administration. The students have demanded the VC’s resignation and the rollback of the rustication of four JNUSU office bearers and a former JNUSU president.Watch Atul Howale’s ground report.
