New Delhi: After 15 girl students of a government school in Haryana’s Mahendragarh district staged a protest in support of climate activist and innovator Sonam Wangchuk, the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) government in the state suspended the principal of the school.The action against Naresh Kaushik, principal, government senior secondary School, Kanina Mandi was taken after the photos and videos of the students’ demonstration surfaced on social media, reported The Tribune.The incident had taken place on July 17 and the suspension order was issued under Rule 5 of the Haryana Civil Services (Punishment and Appeal) Rules, 2016, on Tuesday (July 21) after a committee, headed by the local Block Education Officer (BEO), was constituted to conduct a fact-finding inquiry regarding the matter.The BEO has said that following the fact-finding inquiry and recording the statements of the school principal, teachers, students and their parents, the committee had submitted its report.“The protest demonstration took place outside the school premises, though the students were wearing school uniform. It is the responsibility of the school staff as well as parents of students to ensure that the students reach home safely after the school is over,” BEO Kanina Suresh Kumar told the Tribune.Kaushik, the suspended principal has said that he had no knowledge about the protest as it had taken place after the school hours.Several social organisations and residents of Kanina mandi has called for the reinstatement of Kaushik citing the fat that he has been discharging his duties responsibly and was not involved in any objectionable activity.
