Following allegations of a purported donation scam involving the Ram Temple in Ayodhya, local kar sevaks are now openly questioning the conduct of those associated with the temple’s management. Among them are mahants who played a role in the kar seva of 1990 and 1992, or, more precisely, the demolition of the Babri Masjid. Yet, 34 years later, their stance appears defiant.The Wire conducted ground reporting in Ayodhya for 10 days, speaking with mahants (religious heads) affiliated with various factions as well as some former kar sevaks.
