Former IPS officer Asim Arun joined the Bharatiya Janata Party on January 16. He will be contesting from Samajwadi Party’s bastion Kannauj.Only a month after he quit his job as a police commissioner from Kanpur, he was served a notice for violation of the model code of conduct. The notice was served by the sub-district election officer after 15-16 children were found to be campaigning for him.The Wire’s Yaqut Ali spoke to him about the upcoming Uttar Pradesh elections and why he decided to join the BJP.
