New Delhi: Bharat Rashtra Samithi (BRS) leader Kotha Prabhakar Reddy was stabbed during the election campaign in the Dubbak assembly constituency on Monday, October 30. He is currently recuperating at a private hospital in Hyderabad, and doctors say his condition is stable.Reddy, currently representing Medak parliamentary constituency as MP, is the BRS’s candidate for the Dubbak assembly segment for the upcoming election on November 30.When Reddy was campaigning in Surampalli village along with BRS’s workers on Monday afternoon, one Gaddam Raju (38) on the pretext of shaking hands with Reddy walked up to him and stabbed him in his stomach with a kitchen knife. BRS’s workers roughed up Raju and handed him to the local police. Chandrashekar Rao said opposition parties attempted to fatally attack Reddy unable to face him in the people’s court. “We fight over people’s issues. But the opposition parties attacked Reddy unable to face him in elections. They (opposition leaders) are embarrassed to show their faces to the people. The people of Telangana should teach them a lesson. I feel this attack against Reddy is actually against me,” said KCR during an election rally in Narayankhed.Telangana Congress chief Revanth Reddy condemned the attack, saying that Congress never believes in violence. He urged the police to fully inquire into the matter, put facts out, and punish those behind the attack.The accused, Raju, is in police custody and a case has been filed into the incident, said local commissioner N. Swetha, according to local reports.
