New Delhi: Several noted seers from Ayodhya have opposed the ongoing process to select a chief executive officer for the Ram temple by saying that the temple should be managed by a religious seer and not an administrator, reported Deccan Herald.The opposition of the seers come at a time when after massive furore over the alleged embezzlement of funds at the Ram temple, the temple Trust had issued a notification a few days back, inviting applications for the post of the CEO who will look after the administration and financial management of the Trust.‘’We don’t need a CEO….we want a das (servant)…we want someone who is from the Ramanandi Sect, a sage, a person who knows about religion,’’ said Jagadguru Sateeshacharya one of the seers who is opposed to the decision to appoint a CEO.Mahant Dharm Das, another notable seer has also said that a CEO was not required at a place where Lord Ram was present.Karpatriji Maharaj has said that the temple needs a “pradhan Ram sevak” and not a CEO. He too said that someone who is from the Ramanandi sect should manage the temple affairs.The DH report added that so far more than thousand applications have already been received by the Trust for the post of the CEO, with retired bureaucrats reportedly constituting a large number among the applicants.Another seer, Mahant Raju Das said that the Ram Temple did not belong to any individual or organisation.Das said that irregularities would not have taken place if there was someone from the Akharas to manage the temple. He also demanding stern punishment to those involved in the alleged ‘embezzlement’ of offerings.The Ram Temple Trust has constituted a three-member committee to select a CEO of the Trust. The members included Justice (retd) Pramod Kohli, Lt Gen (retd) Vishnu Kant Chaturvedi and Lt Gen (retd) Suresh Haware.The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) government in Uttar Pradesh and the Centre are at present facing criticism from opposition parties for the alleged embezzlement of funds at the temple in Ayodhya.
