New Delhi: Samajwadi Party on Sunday, January 29, declared its national executive with Akhilesh Yadav as its national president and his uncle, Shivpal Yadav, as a general secretary.Shivpal Yadav will be among the 14 national general secretaries. The others include Mohammad Azam Khan, Swami Prasad Maurya, Ravi Prakash Verma, Balram Yadav, Vishwambhar Prasad Nishad, Awadhesh Prasad, Indrajeet Saroj, Ramjilal Suman, J. Antony, Harendra Malik, and Neeraj Chowdhury, the Indian Express reported.The notable among them is Swami Prasad Maurya, who had recently criticised the Ramcharitramanas written by Tulsidas, saying that the text uses “objectionable language” against Dalits, Adivasis and backward classes.This is the first party post for the non-Yadav OBC leader since he joined the SP last year, the newspaper reported.He was a minister in the first term of Yogi Adityanath’s government. He switched from the Bharatiya Janata Party to the SP ahead of the Uttar Pradesh assembly polls in 2022.The SP on Sunday declared its 62-member national executive and released the list on its Twitter handle.संशोधितसमाजवादी पार्टी की राष्ट्रीय कार्यकारिणी के नवनिर्वाचित/मनोनीत पदाधिकारियों व सदस्यों की सूची। pic.twitter.com/SETzLaVJTg— Samajwadi Party (@samajwadiparty) January 29, 2023While Akhilesh Yadav will continue to hold the post of national president, Kiranmoy Nanda will be national vice president and Ram Gopal Yadav will continue as national principal general secretary.Sudip Ranjan Sen will be the party treasurer, while there will be 19 national secretaries besides members.After an open feud with Akhilesh Yadav and being sidelined in the Samajwadi Party in 2016, Shivpal Yadav formed the Pragatisheel Samajwadi Party (Lohia) in 2018 and contested against nephew Akshay Yadav from Firozabad.The uncle-nephew duo who parted ways in 2016 came together during the Mainpuri Lok Sabha bypoll in December last year following the death of SP founder Mulayam Singh Yadav.
