A team of five women travelled across Kashmir for five days to see how the lockdown – imposed after the Centre’s decision on August 5 to revoke the state’s special status – has affected people there. All five women belong to civil society groups. According to their fact-finding report, which carries accounts of Kashmiris, men were “brutally beaten” for “no reason” in a village near Bandipora and boys as young as 14 and 15 are being taken away and “tortured”.
