With only one full year left before the 2024 general elections, political parties will begin to work on their strategies to woo the voter.Although it is ‘advantage BJP,’ opposition parties could come together to ensure that they put up a joint candidate in key constituencies for the 2024 General Election. But that is not likely to happen, says journalist and author Nilanjan Mukhopadhyay. “A united opposition front is a tall order,” he says in this podcast discussion with Sidharth Bhatia. He says the BJP’s strategy could still work, because “There are no limits to intolerance and hatred. But no opposition party is talking about the insecurity of the minorities. They have surrendered to the BJP’s agenda”.There are 10 elections in 2023, and he feels it will not be easy to win in Rajasthan, Madhya Pradesh and Chhattisgarh. “But state election results do not have much impact on general elections,” he adds.
