New Delhi: The denial of party tickets to two serving ministers in the Manohar Lal Khattar government has become a hot topic of discussion within the BJP.Vipul Goel, the BJP MLA from Faridabad who holds the industries portfolio with him and Rao Narbir Singh, in-charge of the all important Public Words Department, and who had won the Badshahpur seat in Gurugram district in 2014, have both been left out in the cold before the upcoming assembly elections. While officially the party has stated that it has chosen candidates keeping in mind their performance and image, one of the reasons for the ministers being ignored and not getting a ticket in the first list is believed to be an ongoing tussle with two Union ministers. Also read: Haryana: CM, Ministers, Three International Sportspersons Make It to BJP’s First ListGoel, an industrialist, has been replaced by another party worker from the Vaish community, Narendra Gupta, the party’s state treasurer. Since both of them are friends and belong to the same community, the BJP has ensured that there is not much resentment over the move and that it does not disturb caste calculations in the state. In Goel’s case, his growing differences with Union minister and Faridabad MP Krishnapal Gurjar appear to have cost him the seat. Goel was earlier the campaign in-charge for Gurjar. In 2014, he got the assembly ticket and won the seat. Thereafter, Goel was also elevated to the post of minister in the state cabinet. It is said that differences also emerged between him and Gurjar and gradually this transformed into intra-party rivalry in Faridabad. The two are learnt to have even got into a heated altercation during Dussehra celebrations in October last year. Also read: Interview: ‘Haryana BJP Govt Not Honest, Only Manner of Corruption Has Changed’The BJP was therefore compelled to choose one of the two, a call taken by the party central leadership. What probably also boosted the decision against Goel was the manner in which the party’s image took a beating due to a few decisions taken by the environment department, which he headed. The fact that Faridabad was this year also adjudged the second most-polluted city in the world – after Kanpur – by World Health Organisation also did Goel’s cause no good.In the case of Rao Narbir Singh too, his growing differences with Union minister Rao Inderjit appear to have played a role in him being denied a ticket. Both of them are party’s face in the Ahirwal region of Gurgaon. Rao Narbir was also facing questions around his educational qualifications following an RTI application filed by activist Harinder Dhingra. He had, however, denied the allegations. Also read: Watch | Bhupinder Hooda on Haryana Under BJP: From Highest Investment to UnemploymentSome of his decisions as minister pertaining to the Aravalis had also brought a lot of bad press to the government. The party therefore decided to replace him with the state president of Bhartiya Janata Yuva Morcha Manish Yadav, who also belongs to the same caste category as Rao Narbir. For the record, BJP changed three of its candidates in the Gurgaon district. Apart from Badshahpur, it also denied tickets to its sitting MLAs from Sohna and Pataudi. The decision on the main Gurgaon constituency is yet to be taken.
