New Delhi: The Rashtriya Janada Dal (RJD) has alleged that as part of a “conspiracy” the entire security of for the family of RJD chief Lalu Prasad Yadav has been downgraded by the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP)-led National Democratic Alliance (NDA) government in Bihar. Yadav and his spouse former chief minister Rabri Devi on Saturday (June 6) returned their security personnel who were deputed at their 10 Circular Road residence in Patna as a mark of protest against the withdrawal of their Z security cover, reported New Indian Express.“RJD represents a huge majority of voters who placed their faith in its leadership. They want to crush the opposition. Such politics has no place in democracy,” said RJD chief spokesperson Shakti Yadav, alleging that there was a conspiracy behind the move.According to an order issued by the state government on Thursday (June 4), following a review of the security of various VIP protectees in the state, former chief ministers Yadav and Rabri Devi will now be provided security cover by the Bihar Special Armed Police (BSAP).Rohini Acharya, the daughter of Yadav and Devi, said in a post on X that the decision has been taken with the “sole intent of causing harm and physical injury” to the two former chief ministers and their family.“There is no justification whatsoever for maintaining a facade of security after the reduction in security cover; it is in this context that Rabri Devi ji has decided to return the security personnel from her official residence,” said Acharya. After the security of Yadav and Devi was downgraded, their son and Bihar leader of opposition Tejashwi Yadav, who also lives in the same 10 Circular Road residence also returned his security personnel in protest. The Bihar government has retained LoP Tejashwi Yadav’s ‘Y-plus’ security cover.Later, RJD leaders and workers were seen standing at the gate of the 10 Circular Road residence of the Yadav family with sticks in hand to guard the family as no government security personnel were deployed, reported The Hindu.“RJD’s first family was upset over repeated insults to them by the government so they decided to return their government security. Our party workers and leaders would now provide them the needed security”, said RJD chief spokesperson Shakti Yadav.
