New Delhi: In wake of the alleged embezzlement of funds at the Ram temple in Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP)-ruled Uttar Pradesh, the saffron party is facing flak in Kerala for demanding a Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) investigation into the alleged the Sabarimala temple gold heist.Leaders from the United Democratic Front (UDF) government in Kerala have questioned BJP leaders for remaining silent over the theft of Ram temple funds while raising the issue of the gold heist in Sabarimala, reported The Telegraph.Earlier on Saturday (June 27), Kerala BJP president Rajeev Chandrasekhar had written a letter to chief minister V.D. Satheesan, seeking a CBI inquiry into the Sabarimala case. He has also demanded and unconditional withdrawal of cases registered against devotees during the 2018 agitation coinciding with the women’s entry to the Lord Ayyappa temple.“The SIT (special investigation team) has to file the chargesheet in the court. We will then have to seek permission from the court for a CBI probe,” Congress leader and Kerala’s Devaswom minister K. Muraleedharan told The Telegraph. He added that the SIT was constituted by the Kerala high court and the state government would not be able to do anything in the matter. ”Muraleedharan also questioned the Kerala BJP leadership’s silence on the Ram temple donation theft.“The BJP national leadership had flaunted the Ayodhya temple as a major achievement in Lok Sabha and state elections. If that’s the case, then how can the Sabarimala case pertain to just Pathanamthitta and Kottayam districts alone?” asked Muraleedharan.Ever since the alleged embezzlement of funds in Ram temple has come to light, opposition parties have slammed the BJP, citing the fact that the temple in Ayodhya was one of the main planks of the Hindutva politics of the saffron party and the temple trust members included key functionaries of outfits affiliated to the Sangh Parivar.
