New Delhi: Seven people were killed when a helicopter crashed near the Kedarnath shrine in Uttarakhand on early Sunday (June 15) morning.According to Rudraprayag district disaster management officer Nandan Singh Rajwar, the accident took place above the forest of Gaurikund amid poor visibility due to bad weather, reported Press Trust of India.All seven people who were onboard including the pilot and six pilgrims died in the crash.The accident took place soon after the helicopter took off from Kedarnath for Guptkashi around 5:30 am.The helicopter belonging to Aryan Aviation Pvt Ltd crashed between Gaurikund and Trijuginarayan in Kedarghati and thereafter caught fire.In a post on X, Uttarakhand Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami said that a helicopter has crashed and the state disaster response force and other agencies are engaged in relief and rescue operations.On May 8, six people were killed after a helicopter going to Gangotri Dham crashed in Uttarkashi district.Earlier this month, another helicopter going to Kedarnath on June 7 had to make an emergency landing on the road due to a technical fault soon after take-off. The pilot was injured in the incident but the five devotees on board were rescued.
