New Delhi: The Congress has moved the Election Commission of India (ECI) seeking action against Madhya Pradesh minister and senior Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) leader Kailash Vijayvargiya and accused him of concealing information about pending criminal cases in his election affidavit, reported Deccan Chronicle. The move comes after Vijayvargiya recently said that 38 “false” cases were registered against him in West Bengal during his six-year political stint as the BJP in-charge and added that he could come out of West Bengal alive because of the divine intervention of Lord Hanuman. The Congress has urged the ECI to take suo motu cognisance of the matter and take action against Vijayvargiya for not disclosing the alleged pending criminal cases against him in the election affidavit.Madhya Pradesh Congress medica cell chairman Mukesh Nayak pointed out that Vijayvargiya himself has admitted that several cases had been pending against him in West Bengal, reported Deccan Chronicle.Nayak added that Vijayvargiya did not mention these cases while filing his nomination from Indore Assembly constituency in the last Assembly elections and that his election should be declared null and void for concealing the information in his poll affidavit.Vijayvargiya had recently stated that he was advised by the BJP leadership to stay away from West Bengal in the upcoming Assembly elections in that state to avoid trouble since he may be arrested for several cases pending against him in the state.
