New Delhi: The BJP won big in the Hindi heartland states on Sunday, but its decision to field 21 sitting MPs, including some Union ministers received a lukewarm response. Eleven MPs emerged victorious, while 10 lost, according to the Times of India.The party fielded seven MPs each in Rajasthan and Madhya Pradesh, four in Chhattisgarh and three in Telangana. Five parliamentarians emerged victorious in Madhya Pradesh, four in Rajasthan, two in Chhattisgarh but all three lost in Telangana. According to TOI, among the notable losers were Union minister Faggan Singh Kulaste, four-time MP Ganesh Singh, former Telangana BJP president Bandi Sanjay and Vijay Baghel.Union ministers Narendra Singh Tomar, Prahlad Singh Patel and Renuka Singh were victorious, besides MPs Rajyavardhan Singh Rathore, Diya Kumari, Kirodi Lal Meena Baba Balaknath and Riti Pathak.
