New Delhi: A Bharatiya Janata Party MLA from Madhya Pradesh was caught threatening a police officer on camera for initiating a probe against his son who was accused of ramming his car into five people last week.BJP MLA Pritam Singh Lodhi allegedly threatened Karera SDOP Ayush Jakhad saying that his son, Dinesh Lodhi, will return to Karera to contest elections and that Jakhad can try and stop him.“I simply cannot stomach what the SDOP of Karera has said. He warned my son not to be seen here again. I want to ask the SDOP, does Karera belong to your father? Normally, I wouldn’t say this, but now I want to make it clear… my son will return to Karera, and he will contest the elections. If your father has the guts, let him try to stop him,” the MLA is heard saying in the video“I also want to remind the SDOP to take a look at our history. If you level false accusations against us, exert undue pressure, or conduct a biased investigation, we will not tolerate it, and we will certainly give you a fitting reply. I want to tell such officials: Stay within your limits; stay within your jurisdiction,” the MLA added.Dinesh on April 16 allegedly drove his Thar into five people – two women walking on the roadside and three labourers on a motorcycle, the Indian Express reported. A video from the site of the accident allegedly showed Dinesh arguing with those who he had hit with his car, asking why they didn’t move after he honked at them. The police took action against Dinesh over the incident and also found a siren fitted on his car and black film covering the windows illegally. Dinesh’s driving license was cancelled and he was summoned to the police following court directions, prompting the statement from his father.According to the report, Jakhad said the police were acting according to procedure. “Only routine questioning was carried out. Action regarding the black film, siren and licence was taken as per rules,” he told the paper. The MLA has claimed that he had asked the police to register a case against Dinesh but the officers were not targeting him.
