New Delhi: On July 27, 2026, whistleblower in Ayodhya’s Ram Temple funds theft case, former head of accounts at the temple trust Mahipal Singh, sent his statement via email to the Special Investigation Team (SIT) currently probing the matter, reported the YouTube channel Top Secret.According to journalist Abhishek Upadhyay, who runs the channel, Singh has levelled a number of fresh allegations against the temple management, including its former secretary, Champat Rai, who resigned on July 7, 2026.Some of the charges levelled by Singh, among the whistleblowers in this case, include Rs 2,200 crore being spent in the construction of a temple when the estimated cost was Rs 800 crore and the purchase of certain ‘disputed’ properties by Rai on behalf of the Ram temple trust in which the purchaser is yet to take possession.Singh has also reportedly reiterated earlier allegation against Champat Rai’s former driver Tinnu Yadav, who was also a member of the trust’s fund counting staff. Yadav allegedly used to take away bundles of cash donations, which were stacked in bundles of tens. He allegedly would take every eleventh, twelfth and thirteenth bundle.As reported by The Wire earlier, whistleblower Mahipal Singh had fallen out with the temple trust way back in 2022 when he had shared his ordeal with an Ayodhya-based local about witnessing corruption inside the temple premises.“I was scared to see the kind of corruption [that prevailed] there,” Singh was quoted as telling the Ayodhya-based local resident then.In his statement mailed to the SIT, Singh has also alleged that “apart from cash, Tinnu Yadav would also take away other materials given as donation from the counting room. Its photograph would be clicked and sent to Champat Rai.”Recently, hundreds of seers gathered in Ayodhya to give Champat Rai a “clean chit”.
