New Delhi: The family members of former Haryana state president of the Indian National Lok Dal (INLD) Nafe Singh Rathi have said that they are dissatisfied over the proceedings bring carried out to scrutinise his murder, reported The Tribune.Sheela Rathi, the spouse of Rathi told reporters while addressing a press conference on Thursday (April 30) that the family is not satisfied with the probe into his murder. The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) has been investigating the murder of Rathee for almost two years now.“We are not satisfied with the progress of the investigation. If no action has been taken even in the murder case of a State President of a political party, how can ordinary citizens expect justice?” said Sheela Rathi, who is a member of the INLD state executive. She added that her actual grievance was with those holding positions in the Union Government and alleged that while the FIR registered in the case names nine individuals affiliated with the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), yet not a single arrest has been made to date.Sheela Rathi also alleged that while there were four shooters involved, the real perpetrators are still at large and only two ‘dummy’ shooters have been arrested so far.Bhupender Rathi, the son of Nafe Singh Rathi, alleged that there was pressure from a senior Union minister occupying an important position at the Union government and the CBI is not making arrests due to the pressure. He added that this was perhaps the first instance where the victim’s family had sought security even before the murder, but instead, security was provided to those whose names appeared in the FIR.“We have been seeking justice from the government for the past two years. If justice is denied, we will fight this battle from the streets to the courts,” he added.Bhupender Rathi said that if the government fails to deliver justice, the family members will approach the courts, and if justice is not obtained there either, they will take the facts of the murder before khap panchayats and continue their fight for justice, reported The Tribune.Rathi and another person were shot dead on February 25, 2024 by four shooters who opened fire at Rathi’s SUV at the Barahi level crossing in Bahadurgarh (Jhajjar). Another person was critically injured in the attack.
