New Delhi: Close to a lakh thronged the national capital on Monday (July 20) in response to the Cockroach Janta Party’s call for a protest march to the parliament on its first day of the monsoon session. The main protest site at Jantar Mantar was dismantled by the Delhi police around 4 pm on Monday. The Delhi police was also seen lobbing tear gas canisters and lathi charging young students and women without inhibition. Despite the police brutality and the questionable methods of the Union government in engaging with the protesters, people returned to the protest site at Jantar Mantar, with many staying long after midnight.
