New Delhi: The Delhi high court on June 2 questioned actor and environmentalist Juhi Chawla for directly filing a suit against setting up of 5G wireless networks in the country without giving any representation to the government on her concerns related to the technology. However, the online hearing was repeatedly interrupted by an unknown person or more who entered at intervals and sang songs from films that had featured Chawla.Indian Express has reported that usernames ‘Manisha Koirala’ and ‘Jahnvi’ (both names of Bollywood actors) appeared on the WebEx screen during the hearing.Videos of the hearing circulating on social media show those present in the hearing, including Chawla, stunned during the singing. Among songs sung was one ‘Meri Banno Ki Aayegi Baraat’, Express reports. It is not difficult to attend an online hearing if one has the link to it. Chawla had, in fact, posted the link to the online hearing on Instagram and publicised it on Twitter, urging people to be present at the hearing.Hum…tum aur 5G! 😁👍If you do think this concerns you in anyway, feel free to join our first virtual hearing conducted at Delhi High Court, to be held on 2nd June, 10.45 AM onwards 🙏 Link in my bio. https://t.co/dciUrpvrq8— Juhi Chawla (@iam_juhi) June 1, 2021Justice J.R. Midha ordered his staff to identify the person or persons, remove them and pave the way for the initiation of contempt action proceedings against them. Eventually, court staff ‘locked’ the virtual room. This meant that no user could make their voice heard by unmuting themselves. However, the perpetrators found a way around this and reportedly posted a barrage of emojis while Solicitor General Tushar Mehta made arguments. The court after hearing the arguments of various parties reserved its order on the suit.Chawla’s plea, filed along with Veeresh Malik and Teena Vachani, claimed that 5G wireless technology plans threaten to provoke serious, irreversible effects on humans and permanent damage to the earth’s ecosystems.#STOP5GThank you for supporting my cause🙏 #CitizensForTomorrow 👍An appeal to support the fight against hazards caused by EMF radiation & save future of our children 😁@PMOIndia @narendramodi pic.twitter.com/9U2YmfKquX— Juhi Chawla (@iam_juhi) March 23, 2021The three said that if the telecom industry’s plans for 5G come to fruition, no person, animal, bird, insect and plant on earth will be able to avoid exposure, 24 hours a day, 365 days a year, to levels of RF radiation that are 10x to 100x times greater than what exists today.
