New Delhi: An accused in the Mumbai cruise ship drugs case, in which Shah Rukh Khan’s son Aryan Khan has been arrested, told a magistrate’s court on Wednesday that the six grams of charas which the Narcotics Control Bureau (NCB) claimed to have recovered from him were planted and sought bail.According to Free Press Journal, Arbaaz Merchantt also sought in a separate plea that the court should direct CCTV footage from the Mumbai Port Trust to be produced, saying it would show that no recovery was made.Merchantt’s plea said that while the NCB claimed its officers had kept a watch at the International Terminal, Green Gate, Mumbai Port Trust, “It is respectfully submitted that the said area is a restricted area where bona fide persons either having security passes or passengers having valid travel documents can enter.”The NCB’s panchnama alludes to the presence of CISF officers and that the area was under CCTV surveillance, the plea says, according to Free Press Journal. The application says that a “false case had been foisted” upon Merchantt and that no contraband had been recovered from him. The NCB claimed that drugs were recovered from his shoes.“Documents and witnesses may lie, but the CCTV footage which is recorded under the supervision of a body like the CISF will definitely throw a clear and genuine picture of the genuineness of the case of the prosecution,” the plea adds. The plea sought the court’s directions to the CISF to preserve the CCTV footage of October 2.The bail plea, according to Free Press Journal, says that the ‘Classic Guest MV Express Card’ which was required to enter the cruise was not recovered from Merchantt and that the allegations that he and Aryan intended to board the cruise are “false and concocted”.The alleged recovery made was in small quantity and should not be connected to the recoveries made from other co-accused, the plea says.On October 3, eight persons including Aryan Khan, Arbaaz Seth Merchant, Munmun Dhamecha, Vikrant Chhoker, Ismeet Singh, Nupur Sarika, Gomit Chopra and Mohak Jaswal were produced before Mumbai’s Esplanade Court. The agency has made further arrests in the case.Meanwhile, Aryan Khan’s custody ends today. His lawyer is likely to apply for bail today, according to reports.
