New Delhi: A Delhi court has rejected Cockroach Janata Party legal affairs head Ratna Singh’s appeal for registration of a first information report against policemen for confining and restraining her from going to Jantar Mantar to protest against Chief Election Commissioner Gyanesh Kumar.Singh’s appeal to the Saket District Court was the first move on the part of the CJP to involve the courts in any of its protests or detentions.Singh had filed a handwritten application from the car in which she had been detained at 9 am today. At 7.30 pm, Singh wrote on X that she was still detained, and was surrounded by close to 30 police personnel.Bar and Bench reported that when Singh’s lawyer told the court that she and other women have been in detention for seven to eight hours, the judge cited administrative work, and said:“Please make yourselves comfortable. It will take time. I have taken this on an urgent basis, but this court has administrative work also. It will take time.”Singh has reacted to the verdict with a note on X that says that the judge left the hearing four times. She wrote:“Judge serving the master. Went for break/meeting 4 times during entire hearing. Order without any application of law.“Welcome to new India, where Sarkar can put 30 police personnel confining you & then say we won coz armless people couldn’t come to the protest site.“Irony is that people with criminal history are roaming around in Delhi & police personnel are busy detaining peaceful protesters.”The Cockroach Janata Party’s leadership was notably detained as well. Abhijeet Dipke, Saurav Das and Ashutosh Ranka were taken into custody from the flight they landed in Delhi in. Their location is still not known.
