New Delhi: A Bharatiya Janata Party MLA was chased away by residents of his constituency in Uttar Pradesh’s Muzaffarnagar when he arrived to campaign for the upcoming assembly election there.Vikram Singh Saini, a legislator from the Khatauli constituency, was met with opposition and sloganeering by villagers on Wednesday, January 20, NDTV reported. In the days following the Union government’s reading down of Article 370 in Jammu and Kashmir, Saini had said that BJP workers were “excited” by the change as they could now marry “fair girls from Kashmir”.In January, 2019, Saini had threatened to “bomb” those who felt unsafe in India and those who weren’t loyal to the country.A year prior in January, 2018, Saini had said that ‘Hindustan’, as the name suggests, “belongs to Hindus” and had, at the same time, taken shots at the country’s Muslim population. Before that in March, 2017, Saini had promised to “break the hands and legs” of anyone in the country found disrespecting and killing cows.Khatauli is part of the National Capital Region.
