New Delhi: Madhya Pradesh’s home minister Narottam Mishra has said that an FIR will be registered against a woman for shooting a dance performance at a temple in Chhatarpur district and posting it on social media.“The way Neha [Mishra] dressed and shot the video was objectionable. I had earlier objected to such incidents and said FIRs will be registered in such cases. Despite the warning she did this,” Mishra told reporters.He added that he has asked the Superintendent of Police at Chhatarpur to file an FIR against her.A woman had captured a short video – an Instagram Reel – an uploaded it on October 1. The performance of a dance to a Bollywood song, Munni Badnam Hui, had been shot on the temple steps.When Bajrang Dal members began voicing objection to it, she deleted it and apologised for hurting “religious sentiments.”NDTV has identified the woman’s Instagram handle as ‘muskanm125′. The account has more than four lakh followers on Instagram. The handle shows more than 850 posts, most of which are Reels.Home minister Mishra is known to associate himself with Hindutva workers’ objections to cultural, creative or commercial output.In November last year, he had said comedian Vir Das, who was facing police complaints over his monologue ‘I come from two Indias’, would not be allowed to perform in the state.In the same month, after targeting Dabur’s Karwa Chauth ad, Mishra had issued a 24-hour “ultimatum” to designer Sabyasachi Mukherjee to withdraw an advertisement about a new line of jewellery, including a mangalsutra. The minister said the advertisement is ‘obscene and objectionable’.In January last year, Mishra, said he will file a case against the makers and actors of the web series Tandav, following an outrage which led to significant changes in the series.In 2020, Mishra said that the Netflix miniseries A Suitable Boy depicts “extremely objectionable content” hurting religious sentiments.
