New Delhi: Hyderabad MP Asaduddin Owaisi said he does not want Z category security, which the Union government had decided to provide him with following an incident in which his car was fired upon while he was returning to Delhi after campaigning in Uttar Pradesh.In the Rajya Sabha on Friday, February 4, a day after the incident, Owaisi said he would instead like to be an ‘A’ category citizen.“I don’t fear death. I don’t want Z category security, I reject it; make me an ‘A’ category citizen. I’ll not remain silent. Please do justice…charge them (shooters) with UAPA…appeal govt to end hate, radicalisation,” the MP said, according to Indian Express.Meanwhile, news agency ANI has reported that Union home minister Amit Shah will give a detailed reply in parliament on February 7, on the firing on Owaisi’s car.Earlier in the day, reports had said that CRPF commandos will be deployed round-the-clock for Owaisi’s security.About 16-20 armed commandos will be deployed in shifts. He will also be provided with an escort and a pilot vehicle when he travels by road, PTI had reported.The firing on the All India Majlis-e-Ittehadul Muslimeen leader’s car allegedly took place in Hapur. No one was injured in the incident, Owaisi had said, urging the Election Commission to ensure an independent probe into the incident.Uttar Pradesh’s Additional Director General of Police (Law and Order) Prashant Kumar had said one person involved in the episode has been arrested and a pistol was seized from him.
