While barricading the state border to ensure that they can’t proceed through the state to reach their destination, Delhi, the Haryana Police has been using tear gas shells on them. News reports said some of the shells were dropped on the protesters via drones too. Several farmers, and journalists covering the protests, have been hospitalised due to injuries from the baton charge, said reports. Farmers have told reporters that Haryana Police have used pellet guns on them too, causing injuries. The PTI report said that Delhi Police “has made all logistical arrangements to stop the farmers at the Singhu (Sonipat side), Tikri (Bahadurgarh side) and Ghazipur (Ghaziabad side) borders”. Already, prohibitory orders under section 144 of the Code of Criminal Procedure (CrPC) have been clamped across the national capital for a month, banning assembly of five or more people; rallies and demonstrations, and entry into the national capital of tractor-trolleys carrying people.
