Hansal Mehta has made landmark films such as Shahid and Aligarh, and recently directed an online series Scam, about the stock market scandal in the early 1990s, which was very well received.
In this podcast discussion with Sidharth Bhatia, Mehta says the film industry is facing a crisis – shooting has come to a halt, theatres are shut and workers, especially those on daily wages, are without incomes.
The industry also has to face growing pressures from the establishment about content, especially on OTT platforms. But he is optimistic that filmmakers will find a way to tell interesting stories.
