New Delhi: India has expressed concern over the emblazoning of pro-Khalistani slogans on the external walls of the Indian embassy in Rome with Italian authorities.On Tuesday, a video was distributed on social media which seemed to have been shot in early hours before the Republic Day celebrations. The video shows slogans painted on the façade of the embassy building and Khalistan flag and banners planned on an iron gate of the consular section. So far, this is the first such incident reported publicly from Italy.There was no official reaction in India, but sources confirmed that India has “conveyed our concerns” about the specific incident with Italian authorities.Also read: Fact-Check: Flags Hoisted at Red Fort Neither Replaced Tricolour, Nor Promoted Khalistan“Safety and security of Indian diplomats and diplomatic premises is the responsibility of the host government,” they said.Sources added that India has already been flagging disquiet with Italian authorities about diplomatic security. “We have been constantly raising our concerns with the Italian authorities and we had done so recently as well in view of Republic Day”.Indian sources hoped that Italian authorities will take action against the perpetrators and prevent such incidents from happening in the future.
